I am born and raised on the farm Hraun á Skaga in North Iceland. For over a century, our family has cultured a symbiotic relationship with the wild Eider — the largest duck of the Northern Hemisphere — which comes to the Icelandic coast to breed. At Hraun, the Eiders can nest in peace, protected from predators and human encroachment. In return we get to collect the precious eiderdown shed naturally by the female at the end of the nesting period, and we use it to make beautiful ethical and eco-friendly eiderdown duvets.
